1 year stats

porter

Baby P had his well-check on July 10.

  • 28.5 inches tall (8th percentile)
  • 19.5 lbs (6th percentile)

He is growing and learning. He tries to say lots of words. The other day he said “vis” yelling for his cousin T. He also says “ck” for drink, he signs and says “mo” for more. He says bath, ball, dog, tex, he pants like a dog if you ask him what a dog says. He will find his hat if he wants to go outside. He will find shoes if you ask him to. He helps put the laundry into the baskets but also loves to take clothes out of the baskets. He dances in primary when the kids are singing. He dances to theme music on the kids TV shows.

We went swimming at the Burley City Pool last week and he loved splashing in the water. He loves his bath and the sprinklers/hose. He is walking and almost running at times. I love this little guy and sometimes wish time would slow down so I could enjoy these moments a little longer.

Ijump

The day my parents were taking Ashley to the airport we all went to ijump and had a great time. P loves to slide down the edges and jump with me. He also loved the balls. Thing 1 and Thing 2 played dodge ball with cousins and jumped into the foam pits. It was a ton of fun, but we were sad to see Ashley go home, we wish she lived closer.

Ping pong ball drop

We went to the ping pong ball drop. I remember doing this as a child and it was held in the Riverside Plaza parking lot and the ping pong balls bounced and it was noisy and fun. The kids had fun but on the grass it just wasn’t the same. More like a sudden Easter egg hunt. Their were prizes on each ball so the kids got some candy, Frisbees, punch balls, and we took them to ice cream at Arctic Circle.

Girls Camp

Last week we went up to girls camp to visit Grammy and Papa. The kids had a lot of fun and we even got to take cousin K with us. We enjoyed watching humming birds fight over their territory. We had a yummy lunch. After the flag ceremony a plane flew over and dropped little parachutes with candy.

P enjoyed finding rocks to put into his mouth and got pretty dirty in the short time we were there. I love the pictures I caught of him trying to walk up the hill. It looks like he is pumping his fist in the air.

We probably should have gone up more often this summer. It was great to visit and not to bad a drive.

Stewart Reunion Craters of the Moon

craters

I didn’t take many pictures of our reunion I think I have one or two more on my phone. We had it the last weekend in June and it was extremely hot and it was very nice to sit in the caves.

We went on a few little hikes that felt very long because of the heat. The kids got extremely dirty. They played in the campground faucet and had butterflies land on them trying to get a drink.

We ate good food and had a fun time visiting. We were very glad to get home and have a shower and our nice clean beds.

Lemonade Stand

Last Thursday morning Jake said we are going to have a lemonade stand today. I was a little disappointed that I would be going to work so they prepared on Thursday by coloring letter pages I printed and we had it on Friday. I stayed up until about midnight making cookies. Jake went to Wal-mart and bought dry erase boards. All in all, due to start up costs, we took a loss on the 5 cent cups of lemonade and 5 cent cookies.

The kids loved it and it was fun to see them interact with people who stopped. Jake told them to say thanks to their customers, so Thing 1 said, “Thanks customer” to everyone as they left the lemonade stand. They each made about $5 because there were a lot of overpaying and tips. They set tithing aside and saved all but a dollar each they spend in the little toy vending machines at Wal-mart.

Jake keeps talking about our next lemonade stand, I was under the impression it was  one time thing. Oh-well maybe next time I will buy chips ahoy chocolate chip cookies.

Handsome

image

I took this picture hoping to get some good ones for his birthday invitations. This was one of the first I took and it was perfect, except it was in a pink toy bin and his sister was in the background. So I edited it and came up with a cropped photo for the invite and I played around to get this and loved it. Isn’t he handsome.

Independence Day

4th of July

Today we headed out early. We went to a flag raising ceremony and breakfast in my parents’ neighborhood. My Dad always helps cook and it is always delicious. We had pancakes, eggs, sausage, and hash browns.

After that the kids convinced me to go to the parade. My sister Shelly invited us to the Rexburg 4th of July parade. It great! My favorite part was the bagpipes at the beginning. P loved the horses and any dog that passed. The twins loved all the candy. After the very long parade we went to Shelly’s house and had hotdogs and salads, yum. Then we let the kids play in the sprinkler because it is still hot.

When we got in the car I got “best day ever” status. (It may seem difficult to achieve but we get it often and then later in the day had “this is not a good day” fickle girl.)

The kids all napped on the way home, which was a late nap for the twins but it worked out great for fireworks. When we got home I finally showered. We had dinner and then went to the Jorgensen’s for a little while. They invited us to watch their firework show and have dessert. We had dessert but P needed to go to bed so we came home.

Then Lanae and Mike took the twins to watch the Blackfoot firework show, so I could stay home with P while he sleeps and I watch fireworks on TV (yes they have them on TV for all you like my sister who didn’t know that). II hope the kids have fun and Thing 2 doesn’t get to scared. He is not a fan of loud noise.
