The Ballet Dancer

Thing 1 got to take a dance class with her cousin M in Chubbuck this summer. Thanks to Charlynn who drove every single week. We took Thing 1 once but then headed to Burley so Charlynn still had to drive. The last day of class they had a little recital so we could take pictures and see some of the fun they had.

Now she says she is a ballet dancer and she loved it. They are starting up classes again in the Fall and I promised Charlynn we (read as Jake) would drive, especially around the time she has the baby. Now to find something fun for Thing 2 to be involved with.

Pocatello Zoo

We love zoos and now that P is more aware of animals we decided we needed to try out the Pocatello zoo. There is a lot of walking involved in going to the Pocatello zoo some may even call it a hike. The kids were exhausted but it was a fun day.

We used brushes to uncover fossils. It was hot so we drank lots of water.

The new grisly bear exhibit was neat.

Thing 2 wore his bow tie and the black bear wanted to eat P, or at least he was showing off.

The kids favorite part was the tree house and slide. They also liked the teepee.

10 years

We celebrated our 10 year anniversary on August 8th. I had to work so it wasn’t much of a celebration but Jake sent me beautiful roses. He also got me a ring that I have been wanting. We decided to have our date on the 9th because I had a day off amid the crazing week where everyone wanted vacation.

We had a picnic with the kids at Ross Park in Pocatello then we climbed down the rocks to the zoo. Jake took me to Ross Park on our first date. We had a picnic and played woofle ball and then we climbed on the rocks.

After the zoo we went home got ready and went to the Temple. It was great to spend some time together at the Temple. Then we went out to dinner at the Sandpiper and it was amazing. We were seated where we could see over the river and we even saw a bald eagle. Thanks to my Mom and Dad who babysat.

Rhymes

Tonight while we were getting the kids ready for bed Thing 1 made up a rhyme. She sang, “nice, nice, everyday even when we don’t obey.”

I guess we are finally understanding rhymes a little bit better. We have been practicing by singing a little song.” ______ ______ These words rhyme, ________ _______ these words rhyme, rhyme along with me.”

We do things like “Pink, Sink these words rhyme, pink sink, these words rhyme, rhyme along with me.”

At the library they told us that practicing rhymes helps with reading. I guess we are getting ready to have some little readers at our house.
