Cheyenne

The drive from Blackfoot to Cheyenne takes about 8 1/2 hours if you drive straight through. We split it up into 4 hour chunks. On the last leg we were almost to Laramie and we were boxed in by semis. A gator flipped off one of the trucks and hit under our car. The car stalled and we were in the wrong lane but Jake got the car over to the right side of the road. We could smell gasoline so we all got out of the car.

We spent about 45 minutes on the side of the road trying to figure out how to get to Cheyenne and how we could get our car towed and repaired. My sister Shelly and her family were almost to Cheyenne, they turned around and fit us into the car. My parents met us in Buford and we climbed into the car with them for the rest of the ride to Cheyenne.

It was great to visit the Reading’s and see baby Asher. We ate great food and had lots of time to chat. We played mini golf for Chani’s birthday. The kids even had cupcakes and presents for their birthday on Sunday.

Jill’s friend towed our car to Cheyenne on Saturday and found parts to fix it on Monday (Labor Day). The fuel line was damaged and the fuel tank had a gash in it. It was a very frustrating few days to have to borrow vehicles and transfer car seats over and over. We were also stressed that the car wouldn’t be repaired so we could go home for me to work on Wednesday. We were also worried about how much it would cost to repair the car. Jill’s friend only charged us mileage for the tow and I’m guessing mostly just parts to fix the car. It was an amazing service to us and we are very grateful.

Monday afternoon we were on the road by around 2 and made it back to Green River in time for dinner. The rest of the trip was fairly uneventful compared to that experience. I guess you don’t really appreciate how well the car is running and clear roads until something bad happens. I’m grateful for family and friends who helped us out and made a bad situation better.

This was before our trip to Wyoming became an “adventure”. We had a fairly decent road trip to Green River. We stayed at Steve and Rachel’s house. The kids had a blast playing with their cousins. We went on a walk and saw a family of deer (if you look close you can see a buck, doe, and a couple fawns). We stopped at two parks on our walk. I love the whispering picture even though it is blurry.

Thanks for being a wonderful hostess both stops Rachel.

Nathan and Maielle turned 4 a week ago. We had birthday cake and gave them their bikes a few days before their birthday. Grandma and Grandpa Whipple came for cake. On their birthday we were in Wyoming at my sister, Jill’s, house. She made them birthday cupcakes and they opened some fun presents.

They had a fun time picking out presents for each other and then telling each other what they had purchased. Maielle picked out roller skates for Nathan and then asked Nathan to buy roller skates for her.

They are both growing up(last year). They start preschool this week and Maielle starts up Fall dance classes tomorrow.
