First Picture

The nurse anesthetist at the hospital was my neighbor Chris. He offered to take a quick picture before Thing 3 was taken to the nursery, Jake didn’t take the camera or phone with him into surgery so Chris took one and I got it about a week ago. It was different to see the baby before they went to the nursery, let alone have time to take a picture.

Cute Picture

Photo

Thing 1 has been wanting to hold baby P all the time. Jake got some pillows set up so they both were comfortable and I got some great pictures on my phone and then I was playing around with the editing features on the phone. I thought it turned out pretty cute.

One Month

one month 016one month 019

Baby P has been with us for a whole month. I know I’ve said this before but it sure went by quick. Maybe it’s the lack of sleep or not going to work so I don’t know what day it is most of the time. Baby P has slept well some nights and not so well others. We have had up to 6 hours between feedings but he was wide awake for about 2 of those hours.

He seems to prefer me most of the time and Jake says he is a momma’s boy. When he is upset he usually does calm down faster for me, maybe I just know what he likes the most, or maybe he does realize his mom has him. He either yells at his binky or grunts at it when it falls out of his mouth. When he sneezes he makes a really cute sighing sound either before or after or if he holds sneezes in he usually sighs a few times.

We had a few evenings where we had a screaming baby for an hour or two, since then I’ve been watching what I eat to make sure I don’t eat anything to cause issues. I have a hard time passing up chocolate, but have done pretty well lately.

3 weeks

Time flies when you are having fun, or working hard. We have been doing both at our house. Baby P is very fun to have around, but he adds a little more to our routine and Thing 1 and Thing 2 continue to be just as busy as always.

I’m recovering well. I have been taking Ibuprofen around the clock for a while and have started trying to cut back. Last night was the first night I didn’t sleep with an ice pack. It has been so hot that it has been nice to sleep with ice.

Baby P sleeps pretty well most nights, we have had a few stretches where he slept 5 hours straight then went back to sleep for another 4. Other nights he has slept the first 4 hours and then been wide awake for an hour or so before wanting to sleep again. We are working on a schedule so we keep him awake for as long as possible the stretch before the last feeding of the day. It seems to help.

He seems to be a pretty happy baby except when he has burps. Usually the evening is his fussier time. He poops a lot, a little at a time, so it seems like there is poop in every diaper and we use a lot of diapers.

We love baby P.

Who do I look like?

At the hospital and home 008

In order Thing 1 (M) Thing 2 (N) and Thing 3 (P).

It’s a Boy

Announcing baby Whipple #3. Thing 3 was born on June 22nd at 9:28 PM he weighed 6 pounds 8 ounces, he was 19 1/2 inches long. He didn’t have any problems. He was alert and healthy.

Last Friday was a very busy day for us. Jake and I got up early to go to the temple, we went to breakfast and then picked up the kids from my mom’s house. I was invited to go to Costco with my mom and sister Jill. So after naps we headed for Costco. We walked around and picked up a bunch of stuff I thought we might need in the coming weeks. I probably did to much lifting and helping the kids in and out of the cart.

After Costco we went to the fabric store to see if they had some fabric to make some quilts and curtains for the kids new room upstairs. On the way home I felt a few contractions but I had been having some here and there for a while so I didn’t really worry about it. We found what I wanted and headed home. When we got home we let the kids swim for a little while.

While the kids were swimming I asked Jake how consistent contractions needed to be to go in. Because my doctor had said if I was sitting or laying down and drinking water for 2 hours still contracting to come in. He called our friend Brian to ask him and I called Charlynn to ask her. Brian said to go in if they were less than 15 minutes apart. They definitely were so we packed and had my niece Nicole come to watch the kids until we knew if they would keep us or send us home.

At the hospital they had me give them a urine sample and hooked me up to all the monitors. I was only dilated to a 1 so I figured they would just send me home. But the contractions got closer together and much harder, so I also hoped they wouldn’t send me home because I wouldn’t know when to come back.

An hour later they came in and said I had a UTI, so they would give me some Keflex and send me home. They checked me and I was dilated to a 2, so because I was laboring and changing they decided to do the c-section. (I had a c-section with the twins so we had planned a c-section for June 29th). We called my mom to come spend the night with Thing 1 and Thing 2.

About an hour later Jake was holding our little baby. He is a sweet little one. He is sleeping pretty well at night and most of the day. He is adorable and his brother and sister love him (maybe a little to much). I’m recovering well, probably doing a little more than I should but I’m not hurting to bad.
