Last weekend we had the Stewart family reunion. My parents took charge of planning it and it was a lot of fun, even though it was difficult to get everywhere. I have always felt it easier to stay home with a new baby or new babies, so getting places on time for breakfast or activities was a challenge for me.
It started Friday. The first activity was for the older grandkids, going to the temple for Baptisms. My mom offered to babysit for younger kids at the park, but we were slow to have naps and get out of the house so we only made it to the park for a few minutes before heading to the next activity.
We went to a place called “I Jump” it was a ton of fun. It is a bunch of trampolines and some foam pits to jump into. Thing 2 had a hard time warming up because it was so loud in there and something new. But after he figured out it was fun and he could throw balls for dodge ball he had a blast.
That evening we had dinner at my parents’ house and then they played an outdoor movie, the kids and Jake watched the first 15 minutes, then we went home to bed.
Saturday we made it for breakfast (waffles and sausage yum) at my parents’ house. Then people volunteered to help build our fence. After that we went ice blocking at the Junior High. The smaller kids had fun riding on Dad’s back penguin style and on a sled pulled down the hill behind someone on an ice block. I let the kids have a nap at our house while they continued working on the fence. Then we went to have a late lunch (Dutch oven chicken, potatoes, and baked beans).
Then the kids played in the water and they played a battleship game with water balloons, which was hilarious to watch.
Sunday was our baby blessing. We had a nice luncheon (French dip sandwiches and salads with yummy cupcakes and brownies for dessert). Then we had some family pictures taken. In the evening we had a hay wagon ride behind my Dad’s tractor. I took Thing 1 and Thing 2, Jake stayed home with baby P, he needed to rest after a very long busy day.
Monday we missed breakfast and made it to Lava Hot Springs about an hour after everyone else. It was perfect for our family because I fed baby P while Jake swam with the twins and then got ready and swam for a few hours while others took breaks and had lunch. Then we got changed and I fed baby P again and we drove home.
The kids slept in until almost 9 Tuesday morning because we were all recovering from a long weekend with limited naps.
